Humantay Lake is an impressive place due to its immensity, marks, and colors in the landscape, which makes it one of the must-visit tourist destinations in the heart of Peru. Humantay Lake is a natural beauty in the Salkantay region in Cusco. It is believed that the lake preserves the sacred waters of Apu Humantay that irrigate the fields of the area. The Laguna de Humantay is highly respected by the region’s inhabitants due to its location and great importance for the subsistence economy of the locals.
This day we will pick you up from your hotel at 4:20 to 4:35 am to start the tour until we reach the town of Mollepata in the lush valley of the Apurimac River. After a well-deserved breakfast to fill up on energy, we will continue our journey towards Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level). After a short break, we will begin our hike to Humantay Lake, located at 4200 meters above sea level (13779 feet). After the ascent of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, we will appreciate the wonderful place where we will have free time for photographs. Then we will return to our camp to have our lunch with a spectacular panoramic view surrounded by the snowy peaks, and later we will be transferred to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:30 pm.
