Itinerary:
In this Uros and Taquile tour, we begin by picking up our visitors from their hotels. We will depart in a comfortable boat towards the floating island of Uros, where we will visit 2 islands before continuing the tour to the natural island of Taquile (2 ½ hours of navigation), arriving around noon.
We will take a short walk to the high part of the island (30 minutes), from where we can appreciate the immensity of the lake and all its splendor; then we will have lunch and learn more about their textile commerce, inhabitants, and customs. We must mention that they were declared by UNESCO as “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”. Spinning and weaving are mainly done by men, who start practicing this art from the age of 8. The inhabitants of Taquile demonstrate their marital status through their textile garments depending on colors, size, and mode of use. In men, singles use a red and white chullo, while married ones use red chullos. Likewise, unmarried women wear a chullo with a larger and more colorful pompom than married ones.
