Lake Titicaca (Uros & Taquile Islands, Amantani) – 2 Days 1 Night

Our departure begins at 7:45 am from your hotel. The first stop we will make will be at the Floating Islands of Uros. Our visit will begin with an explanation of each island and how these islands were built on the highest navigable lake in the world. Likewise, our guide will explain the importance of these islands. Our visit will last a maximum of 1 hour and a half.

AMANTANI ISLAND (OVERNIGHT IN A FAMILY HOME):

To reach the island of Amantani, we will sail approximately 9 km for a maximum of 3 hours. During the trip, you can observe a great variety of scenic beauty, as well as the chain of mountains (the Andes). At the main port of Amantani, the community president will welcome us and start dividing us into groups so that families are responsible for providing all the attention, lodging, food, and company. During the afternoon, you will have the option to go for a walk to one of the sacred mountains known as (Pacha Tata); this hike will start with the coordination of our guide. In Amantani, also known for the kindness of its people and for being the natural home of the Cantuta Flower, eight communities live and dedicate themselves to the cultivation of terraces, the raising of sheep, and the artisanal production of textiles and stone carvings. After a delicious typical breakfast, we will continue to Taquile Island. The navigation will take approximately one hour. Most of the people in Taquile are very cooperative and well-organized, which has led to the Taquileans demonstrating a high degree of advancement in Textile Art, receiving recognition from UNESCO. It should be noted that spinning and weaving are mainly done by men, starting at the age of eight, while women exclusively do spinning and weaving. Life in Taquile has not yet been significantly affected by modernity. The visit will last an average of two hours, and you will be given an hour to enjoy a delicious typical lunch. If you really want to be part of this community, you can voluntarily collaborate by buying some of their handicrafts, in this way, the community can have some means of sustainability, and they can continue to show their existence to future travelers. Finally, our guide will inform you of the return time, and you will arrive in the city of Puno around 5:00 pm.
