MOUNTAIN OF COLORS – VINIKUNKA 5,036 MASL
The Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinikunka, is one of the most impressive geological formations in the Andes Mountains. It is recommended by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful places to visit before you die. This place is also known as the Mountain of 7 Colors, and since ancient times, it has been considered a sacred mountain for spiritual retreat where you can feel the energy of the Apus (the spirits of the mountains) and renew positive energies. The maximum height is 5,036 meters above sea level.
Departures:
Our trip begins with the pick-up from your hotel in the morning, between 4:30 and 4:45 am. Then, we will depart towards the town of Cusipata (approximately two hours of travel), where we will enjoy a good breakfast. We will continue our journey passing through beautiful valleys, small canyons, and impressive pre-Inca terraces until we reach the community of Chillihuani (4,600 meters above sea level).
The adventure begins with an imposing view of Apu Ausangate. After an introduction by our guide, we will start our hike, which will be gradual and will last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. During the journey, we will observe a variety of South American camelids, such as alpacas, llamas, birds, lagoons, valleys, streams, and snowy mountains.
After walking for 1 hour and 45 minutes, we will finally arrive at the Mountain of 7 Colors or Rainbow Mountain. This place is unique and magical, as nature formed it capriciously. After enjoying a peaceful moment in contact with nature, we will start our return to the town of Cusipata, where we will have lunch. Then, we will return to the city of Cusco around 5:30 pm.
